This rare1879 Pattern British Saw Back Artillery Sword Bayonet is in good condition. The bayonets were designed to fit the Martini-Henry Artillery Carbine and were in use from 1879 to about 1900. Muzzle ring inner diameter is 5/8 inches and is slightly oval in shape. Overall length is 31 1/4 inches. Blade is 25 3/4 inches. Blade width at the ricasso is 1 1/8 inches and is 1/4 inch thick. Back edge has 20 diamond shaped saw teeth in an offset S/S pattern. Spear point tip and single fulled blade. Fullers are 14 inches in length. All metal is polished in the white.The 25 3/4 inch bright polished blade is in good to very good condition with some very minor pitting present on both sides of the blade. The right ricasso is stamped with the British property mark ARROW/ WD. There are several other proof marks on the ricasso.The bright metal metal cross guard and stirrup guard are in very good condition.The right side of the pommel has the number 345 stamped.. The bayonet catch is missing. The long spring is present. The checkered leather grips are worn from use and wear. The pommel is in very good condition.There is no scabbard with this bayonet I do not accept offers from or ship to a foreign country. There is price on this bayonet.
