All sell !ITEM: You are offerding on a vintage c. early 1920s very rare Maxfield Parrish artwork easel back die-cut advertising display sign for Edison Mazda Lamps by General Electric. The image is Primitive Man which debuted in 1921. We have of course seen calendars from this advertising campaign with this image but have not previously seen a die-cut advertising display sign. The text reads Stone Age Fagot - Today You Have Light at the press of a button Edison Mazda lamps General Electric.
The term fagot is in this usage defined as \"a bundle of sticks, twigs, or branches bound together and used as fuel, a fascine or a torch\" and holds no other implication.
This is a tremendous original old antique example on a heavy die-cut cardboard stock with bright crisp sharp lithography - sadly it has endured some condition issues in the years since its manufacture in the early 1920s - the surface has numerous pinholes and corner losses and edge wear that have been touched up somewhat effectively with cobalt colored paint. Still, this would display well in your collection and might look even better when framed under glass.Measures 11\" x 17\" with original easel back for stand up display.100% guaranteed vintage and original as always from Grapefruit Moon Gallery!CONDITION:In good to perhaps very good condition not better - with pinholes and losses and some significant paint touch up in the corners and along the edges. Still displays well overall and would look great framed, the easel back is still intact. The images provided here are very clear and show all areas & damage and corner touchups and give a very accurate overall sense of the cosmetic appearance of this old advertising Americana display sign from the art deco era. Bonus: PayPal buyers get complimentary access to grapefruitmoongallery\'s weekly newsletter.
