Rare Teddy Roosevelt Fairbanks 1904 Campaign Convention Used Umbrella
NOW OFFERED IS THIS EXTREMELY RARE RED (THOUGH NOW A BIT FADED TO ORANGE), WHITE AND BLUE 1904 TEDDY ROOSEVELT AND CHARLES FAIRBANKS PRESIDENTAL CAMPAIGN UMBRELLA. THE UMBRELLA, WHICH MEASURES 34 1/2\" LONG x 36 1/2\" WIDE (OPENED), IS IN VERY GOOD, WORKING CONDITION, WITH SOME OCCASIONAL STAINS, LIGHT BLEMISHES AND SOME SMALL MOTH HOLES TO ONE OF THE BLUE FIELDS.
NOTE: ACCORDING TO A JUNE 24, 1904 NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE (OBTAINED OFF THE NET), WHEN THE MASSACHUSETTS DELEGATION STOOD TO NOMINATE ROOSEVELT, THEY ALL OPENED RED, WHITE AND BLUE UNBRELLAS WHICH BORE THE LIKENESS OF BOTH ROOSEVELT AND FAIRBANKS. ALSO LATER ON IN THE ARTICLE,IT MENTIONS HOW THE MASSACHUSETTS MEN PARADED AROUND THE CONVENTION, AGAIN WITH THEIR UMBRELLAS.
