DESCRIPTION: This is an old toy fire chief car that was made by Kingsbury around 1930. It is marked “Kingsbury Toys Patd Keene N.H. U.S.A.” on all 4 tires. It is marked “Made in U.S.A.” on the wind up motor. It features a wind up motor with wheels that roll, and battery-operated headlights. The front axle can be set to make the car run straight, or in a circle.
MATERIALS: All pressed steel with rubber tires
DIMENSIONS: Measures about 12 inches long.
CONDITION: Overall in GOOD, SOLID, PLAYED-WITH CONDITION with DECENT ORIGINAL PAINT that has paint chips, scratches, and playwear. The windup motor works when the car is held in the air, but when placed on the ground, it is not strong enough to make the car move. The battery headlights do not work. The taillight bulb is missing. The battery cover is missing. The tires are old originals that have had the centers repaired and repainted. The centers on these tires are usually found in worn out condition from years of use, and just supporting the weight of the toy. There are scattered small dents and bends, but nothing dramatic.
This is a hard to find version of this toy! It will look good with your Kingsbury, Marx, and Wyandotte cars in your collection.
