You are looking at the holy grail of Marantz receivers and a true classic. This is the Marantz 4400 stereo receiver. Many people feel this is one of the best units produced when Marantz was producing some of the best solid state stereo gear. These are nearly impossible to find. Cosmetically, it is nice. The faceplate and rear chassis are clean. The case does have some wear from age and use. Please review the photos to see the specific cosmetic flaws present.

Sonically, it does play well but the controls are somewhat scratchy and should be cleaned. As with all of these, they should be serviced for optimal sound and reliability.  Also note bulbs may be burned out or are ready to due to age. The scope also appears to function well as shown. The quad adapter is not included, and we did not test the receiver in quad mode. Both left and right channels worked when speakers were connected to the receiver.

We did test the phono, aux and FM and they worked.  Due to the age, it is being sold as-is as with all electronics of this vintage. We did not attempt to remove the dust or clean it as we felt we would leave it for the next owner. We also cannot guarantee the condition of the capacitors and other components due to age. All of these are due for service as components are past their shelf life. If you have not owned a vintage receiver before, they can be termpermental and should be considered a project.
