SANDERSON MAHOGANY BRASS WHOLE PLATE CAMERA c. 1890s-1900s EXTREMELY RARE with a Thornton Pickard Shutter and brass lens. Has a half plate focussing screen and film platepanel on the back!
This Sanderson Whole Plate Camera is a rare camera to come across, especially in this condition. This is a beautiful preserved camera from history and would adorn any serious camera collection.
The bellows are in a reasonable to good condition. However there are a few perforations. I would say about four or fiveapproximately. All these are small and if the camera were to be used they would be relatively easy to repair. This is the only issue with this camera except for obvious historical usage that is very slight, as can be seen in the photographs. The camera also has fitted a rare half plate focussing screen and film plate holder. This makes the camera very adaptable.
The camera comes with a Thornton Pickard shutter that cocks and fires and an unnamed brass lens with stop of f8, f11, f16, f22 and f32. The lens comes with its own leather lens cap. Both these items are in good antique condition. The lens looks to be clean both on the brass and the optics.When closed the camera measures 15 1/2\" including lens. The back of the camera measures 10\" wide x 12\" high.
