Shedd Electric Fan Tank brass cage blade vintage antique rare -like Westinghouse For Sale

A Shedd Electric Co. 12\" blade tank -type fan in excellent original condition. Has a rare Shedd badge on the cage and a Shedd motor badge. This is identical to the ~1912 Westinghouse tank motor 12\" brass blade and cage fans (Witt Fan Collector\'s Guide, page 114). Probably manufactured by Westinghouse and rebranded & sold by Shedd Electric Company. So of course is an antique. Cage is brass, undamaged, no loose spokes. Blade has no dings or major scratches; does not look like it has been laquered; will polish up well. Motor has the all original hardware, including the distinctive pointed motor assembly nuts. Operation: on all three speeds, the fan starts up, but on positions 1 and 2 (they are not numbered on the fan), the speed stays in the \"starter\" winding mode (you can see/hear the sparks as it tries to get out of that mode). On 3rd position, fan will sometimes get out of starter mode and become the hurricane you would expect from a motor this size. The badge lists the style number as 107988. Serial # 84294. I have owned this since antique store purchase in 1997 and just displayed it. No time to give it the makeover it deserves. Came with a 11\' cord. The fan is in wonderful physical shape and begs for a refurbish (I doubt that I would repaint, it, though - great original color). The motor and starter coil need a rebuild and lube. Headwire is worn and needs replacement. So pick this up as a project you\'ll be proud to display when done.
