Back during the Golden Age of the Fedora, there were the big names like Stetson, Dobbs, and Knox, but there were also dozens of lesser-known American manufacturers of quality hats. One such was Barrister, which may have been associated with a better-known name like Lee or Champ.

The 1950\'s-era hat you\'re looking at here is a fine representation of Barrister quality. Rendered in deliciously soft, lightweight fur felt in a snazzy shade of blue-gray called NICKEL, it boasts a generous 2 5/8\" brim edged in narrow silver-gray grosgrain binding like the contemporary Stetson Stratoliner; the 4 1/2\" teardrop crown is set off by a narrow 1\" grosgrain ribbon hatband that matches the brim binding.

The interior of the crown is lined in ivory satin, with a colorful Barrister imprint on the center panel surrounded by fancy pleating; the tan leather sweatband is gold-embossed with the Barrister name and the words \"Genuine Fur Felt\" to explain the luxurious texture of the hat. The data label calls the style GOAL.

Size: The little tag under the lining is hard to read, since it\'s been taped over, but it says 7 3/8, and the inside circumference at the sweatband is just under 23\".

Condition: Very nice indeed, fresh and clean, with minimal evidence of use. The lining is slightly discolored with age, but other than that, the hat looks almost like new!
