This listing is for a fully functional vintage BATTERY OPERATED THE DRINKING CAPTAIN w/box as shown. This is not a reproduction toy. It is in good - very good condition. When switch is turned on, His eyes blink, His left hand moves up to take a drink from a bottle marked Old Hootch, He lurches back, His belly heaves and turns red, The street lamp flashes on and off as he tries to maintain his balance, Then smoke comes out of the smoke stack of the tattooed ship on his belly. ( light smoker, it increases as the toy is run through a few cycles ) Process is repeated. This toy has been tested and works well. Battery compartment is MINT as are the connections. No corrosion anywhere on the toy. This is a \"MADE IN JAPAN\" toy listed in Don Hultzman\'s book, COLLECTOR \'S GUIDE TO BATTERY TOYS, copyright 2002, second edition. It is listed on page 63. It is a 1960\'s era toy made by the S&E Co. It has a rarity of 2 on a scale to 10 being the rarest, and a value of $270.00 in C-10 condition with out the box. The original box is included. It is in average - good condition. It does have a number of clear tape repairs. Would make a great conversation piece to any restaurant, tavern, pub, bar, brewery, man cave or family rec-room decor.
