Here is a nice early example of the Top-Line No. 11 Rosewood Plumb & Level is the largest, 30\" size, dating from the 1870\'s and manufactured by the Stanley Rule & Level Company in New Britain, Conn.

This was one of the most expensive and finest Levels produced by Stanley in their early days and features heavy Brass End Caps, decorative Brass plated side views and a solid piece of extremely dense and heavy Rosewood with a dark, rich coloration.

This level has not been cleaned, polished or refinished and remains \"as found\" and retains the original patina on the brass. There is some light rounding and wear on the corners, but overall, very nice with only a very few minor dings to the flat surfaces. The original finish appears to be well preserved.

This Level features a unique sighting feature, of a type I have never seen before. One end cap has a hinged peep sight with a small tab. It stores away behind the end cap when not in use. When opened out, it stops in precise alignment with a brass rod or strip that is inset into a grove that runs the entire length of the level. The brass end cap on the far end has a \"V\" shaped notch in alignment with the brass strip. It seems to work exceeding well and it\'s quite easy to draw a bead on a specific spots many yards away. Both vials are \"wet\" and the level appears to be in good working order.
