STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK(1980)
Offered hereon three reels is an original vintage 16mm cinemascope print of one of the mostsought after titles by film collectors worldwide. However, the item does haveits few negative points and (mostly very) positive points.
Let’s start with the lesser qualities:It ispartly faded by about 25% at the most. ReelOne: There are one or two small emulsion lines for the first 10 minutes anda tiny base line at very extreme left edge of frame (barely noticeable). Reeltwo: Three splices but with no frames missing. Small emulsion line at farright that shifts to extreme far right halfway through the reel. That’s it forthe down sides!
Now for the positive points: Despite the partial fading, blue, green andblack tones are strongly present throughout. This print had only one owner andwas played maybetwo or three times in the last 35 years. All head and tail leaders are uncut. Reel three is very clean. No issues to speakof. After countdown on reel one it fadesinto the 20th Century Fox logo. Reel three ends with the MPAA ‘‘PG’’logo. Apart from very minor wear issueson Reel one and two, it is in near mint condition. Not shrunken. No pulledperfs. Sound is clear. There is NO vinegar odor and there never will be because it isprinted on MYLAR stock. It is an original anamorphic scope print requiring an anamorphic lens to project it widescreen. I noticed only3 tiny splices.
The attachedpics are of the actual print but were taken off of an RTI viewer-analyser thatuses gentle edge rollers and prism only, never touching the actual surface of the print. The pics were not taken off of a movie screen. The quality therefore does not represent the much better projected image. I didthis to avoid any chance of adding even very minor wear to it from my runningit through a projector. The sharpnessand color of the print is actually better than what you see in the pics.
I have 25years of experience handling and collecting 16mm so feel free to ask detailed questionsbefore placing a offer. See my other sales including a nice 16mm scope original version print of STAR WARS (1977).
