Produced from 1929-1931, it measures 7 5/8\" tall x 6\" wide x 3 5/8\" deep.There has been much speculation about Art Deco designer Paul T. Frankl and the design of this clock.Can\'t tell if he designed it, but it certainly is at least an homage to his style.
CONDITION: This clock has been gone through, and runs quietly and keeps excellent time.Theclock has all of the original brass trim as you can see in the photos, which is rare in these clocks (the original glue often dried out and they fell away and were lost).
The alarm works well (it\'s a 24 hour alarm, so you can set it to ring in either AM or PM) and will wake the dead!The dial illumination also stillfunctions as it should, and it has a correct oblong bulb.The glass crystal is a new piece of glass that has been silvered as the original one was.The back and all knobs are intact and correct for this white model (finished in brass and copper).The interior movement attachment point arms have been repaired with a strong two-part epoxy that works well on this material (these are often cracked or broken due to their fragility and contraction in size over the years). It is solid and strong.
I’ve spared no expense restoring this clock to look as it did when it was new.The case looks shiny and clean, as you can see in thephotos. Comes with it’s original bakelite plug end and acorrectrayon period black cord.
According to Electrifying Time, the thorough and well researched book on vintage electric clocks by Jim Linz, there were about 27,000 walnut/brown colored versions, and 4,000 white and green cased Electrolarms sold. According to \"Pappy\", this model might be the first self-starting alarm clock (telechron.net/700.htm)!
In the following weeks I’ll be offering several Telechron, General Electric/GE, Lawson, Hammond, New Haven, Seth Thomas, Winslow, Westinghouse, Westclox, Waltham and a dozen other brands from my personal collection.Many are the culmination of acquiring several parts clocks, and using 6 Million Dollar Man technology (and probably close to that amount of man hours and cash outlay) to make one gorgeous example.These pieces are not cheap, but are probably the best of their kind out there.
