Up for sale is a Ten Tec model 253 automatic antenna coupler. Included is a copy of the factorymanualon CD. This item is from a collection I\'ve been saleing over the past several months. It has been stored indoors in a smoke free and climate controlled home.
This example of the model 253 is in excellent cosmetic condition with very few blemishes. The largestdetractionis some light scuffing on the display area which I was unable to photograph. It was obviously very well cared for.
The 253 requires a 12-14 volt 3 amp power supply to operate. It was not supplied with a power supply when new and no power supply is included in this sale. I was able to perform some tests using a bench supply. The Ten Tec powered up and both the capacitor relays and roller inductor responded to the front panel buttons. The inductor was observed to operate over its full travel and to stop and reverse direction at the end of travel.
Evidence of arcing was seen on the threads of one SO259 antenna connector - see pics. No evidence of damage wasseenon the center terminal or inside the unit.
I am not a licensed ham. My ability to test transmitting equipment and peripherals is therefore limited to operation into a dummy load. I\'m unable to answer questions pertaining to the on air use of any transmittingequipmentor peripherals. Per the manual, the automatic tuning function of the model 253 requires an RF source of at least 50 watts and a dummy load. I do not have access to such an RF source at this time. Therefore the automatic tuning functions of this unit are untested. I will gladly perform any additional tests within the limits of my equipment.
