VERY HISTORIC CAMERA - ONE OF THE ALL TIME MOST IMPORTANT CAMERAS EVER MADE
The Original Model Kodak Camera from 1888
Serial # 2622
Has original felt plug with red string (the red string is from original packaging of the camera!)
Camera still has film in it ! Not sure of the type but it appears to be film of 1890s vintage. See images. Circular image frame is present and complete.
Camera body leather is in great condition. Most these cameras are found with dry, cracking and crusty leather. This camera looks great with a warm brownish/red patina to the leather. Very minor wear as shown in high res images.
Lens looks good and shutter appears to work fine - but I didnt want to play with this too much. The string for the camera may or may not be original to camera - while I have acquired a number of string set Kodaks - its hard to ascertain if this is original. I believe it is, but cant be 100% certain. The little brass, tulip shaped, \"pull\" is missing from the end of the string which is common. These frequently came off when the string snapped or just dried and rotted off over time.
Camera comes with its equally rare ORIGINAL leather carrying case (missing strap). These cases are very, very hard to find. This one is missing one clasp and is drying out a bit, but it is still a beautiful piece and rarely found. No strap, case is as shown.
These Original Kodaks only show up once every few years. Get yourself the holy grail of collectible Kodaks ! This one is in fine condition.
