Theo Faberge Desk Clock Sterling Silver Cocobolo Wood #43/500 Rubies Pearls \'89:
$2025.00

Faberge Desk Clock

Recent estate find. Measures approximately 3-1/2” wide and 2-5/8” tall. Weighs 12 ounces. Has all the appropriate Faberge and sterling marks. Numbered 43. There were 500 made. Rubies and pearls. Silver and cocobolo wood.

There is no box. No presentation case. You are getting the clock only.

There are twelve photos above plus an additional twenty-six photos below the description.

I sadly have no idea how to open the clock portion. I assume it is battery operated – if so, then my best guess is that the battery is dead, replace it and all should be fine – however, since I am unable to open the watch and change the battery, there is at least a chance that the movement will need serviced or replaced. I apologize for having to leave that as an unknown.

I think this clock dates to 1989, and I am pretty sure the previous owner had it displayed that entire time. The clock has evidence of being displayed for over 25 years.

It’s quite an intricate item, so it was obviously difficult for the previous owner to properly clean. The tight spots have old polish residue. The wood portions on three of the sides have a cloudy streak along the bottom edge.

I believe these cloudy streaks are from polish residue getting on the wood. I tried to wipe a small area of this discoloration away, and no luck. It may be permanent. Or maybe you know of a way to clean it off. I don’t know. There are other spots and areas of related discoloration to the wood. Cloudiness. Spottiness. Noticeable in most lighting, yes, but most easily seen with a bright light.

There’s other dirtiness. Dusty. Smudges. The silver is badly tarnished with truly evident darkening and discoloration. Blackening. The underside is prominently discolored. The Made in England sticker on bottom is worn.

Some of the dirtiness and whatnot may be permanent. You may have to learn to love the clock exactly as it is now. I think everything is age appropriate and gives the clock a handsome look, but you may feel differently.

The gilded silver has light scratching and dullness throughout.

There’s no damage to the wood or anything like that. The pillars look great. The item was displayed, but never abused or mishandled.

The clock doesn’t hold inside the lid. If you open the lid, the clock falls out. There are rubber seals that I assume can be replaced so that it sticks inside better.

The inside portion on top of the lid definitely has an ugly amount of discoloration. The underside of the small clock itself has an area of scratching to the center, and the sides have some nicks. The dial and crystal both look great.

One silver finial looks to be bent to the side some (front left in the first and third photos).

The felt pads on the underside of each foot are badly worn and dulled (fuzzies and thinned). The felt inside the “secret” compartment also has fuzzies. The felt on the inside of the lid is worn and darkened.

Everything is well represented in the provided photos (12 picsabove plus 26 more below the description), so please look to them to best judge what you are offerding on.

I can almost always combine on shipping, so please do take the time to review my other listings.
