An exaggerated cinquefoil form ofruffles along the rim serves to showcase the marvelous coloration of thiscompote. Along the curvatures flow a molten striae of sunset shades in iridizedoranges and golds with hints of pink and green. The swirling layers continue tothe bowl of the compote where icier hues of the rim coloration collectthemselves. These tones are found again with a deep platinum wash on the bowl’sexterior, gaining more of an iridescent gold sheen as it meets the short stem.Oranges intensify as the stem meets the compote’s inverted saucer foot of boldautumnal gold. On the underside of this foot, the compote is properly signed “L.C.T.4827B”. According to Tiffany’s RegistryNumbers by Years on page 56 of Koch’s LouisC. Tiffany’s Glass – Bronzes – Lamps, the suffix B indicates this compotewas made in 1907.
Condition: Nuances to glass in the making include trapped bubble, toolmarks, and carbon deposits. Measures approximately 5 ½” by 4” in height.
