AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE TLINGIT FINELY WOVEN BASKET OVER BOTTLE
WITH WOVEN LID
PURCHASED IN SITKA, ALASKA IN 1924
EXCELLENT CONDITION
2\" x 2\" x 2 1/2\" high
I inherited this woven basket over bottle from my sister. It has a note in it written by her late mother-in-law as follows:
\"Purchased in 1924 by me, in Sitka, Alaska, on a trip my mother and I took.\"
My research indicates that it is Tlingit. It is very finely woven with a duck pattern on all 4 sides. The bottom is a stronger weave. There are no chips, cracks or rough edges on the bottle opening.
Please see all pictures and ask questions before offerding.

A very kind er and collector of these types of baskets wrote and told me this was woven by a tribe called Nootka, or Nu Chan Nulth and they reside in the same place in Sitka Alaska as the Tlingit. They also said it was made by a \"master artist\". I\'m sorry for any confusion caused by the original description.
