TWO. !! EACH ORIGINAL WWII STYLE US ARMY TYPE CANTEEN CORKS

Note: I am selling just two corks, the Canteens & Capare to show what they fit.

This is forTWO !! original US Army canteen cork or Canteen Gasket, This is the Exact replacment CORKused duringWWII . Often missing from canteens these are from a New Un Opened Box. These corks are 1-1/8 Inch in Diameter and 1/4 Inchin thickness. These are not hard to installJust place the replacement cork into the Cap and gently work it down until a thread is exposed, then screw the Cap down slowly and then snug it down,to seat it properly. You want to wet it with water and seat it a few times and then it will make a water tight seal. These Cork Gaskets are from 1964 and are new stock.

Canteen Maintenance:

No one wants to drink out of a dirty canteen, I want to sharea few tips that I have used over the years,

As a Boy Scout then working off shore in Africa and South America.

I like to use three ways to cleanmy canteen, 25 BB’s or soand just a little bleach w/ a touch of soap, fill a few inches and shake it. Then you can pour boiling water into it several times to rinse it out. Then take a light and try to see down into it, you can see pretty good, if it is rusty inside , just scrap it !

Clean the canteen cap and cork with hot soapy water. Re assemble the canteen cap to the canteen and check for leaks. In most cases I replace the canteen cork. The Old one can be picked out pretty easy!

Some carry a spare Cork in their back pack, it is light and about as handy as a pocket on a shirt!
Do not put pure bleach in the canteen you can hurt it, You can also use Efferdent denture cleaner.

If you take off the Bakelite (Material)Cap, you can leave the Canteen in the Dishwasher for a few cycles.

Selling Corks to fix old canteens does make me happy! The Old Canteen Quality just can not be BEAT! But the Cork is the weak link, but lucky it is easy to Put in a new cork. Natural Cork is safe to drink from and Natural Cork Products are getting harder to come by !
