Vintage 1887 Pollmann Banjo Mandoline Banjola 16 Horsepower David Eugene Edwards For Sale

For sale is a very hard to find Pollmann (not Pullman) Banjo Mandoline. Also known as a banjolin or banjola, this instrument was hand-built in New York by the August Pollmann company. It has a patent date of May 3, 1887. As you can see, it features an A-style mandolin body with a 5 string banjo neck. This one was purchased by me from Victor Guitars in Denver Colorado for more $1,200. (Original receipt will be shipped with instrument). This instrument was set up for gut strings as it would have been originally by Victor and is in overall very good shape. It has two surface cracks on the top that I tried to photograph that don\'t affect playability in any way. Only other flaw is that the Pollman logo on the disc in the headstock has faded, and the disk needs to be reglued. I can either reglue or put in an envelope when I ship. It will be shipped in a gig bag with plenty of packing material and insured for sales price.

1. Victor Guitars is where David Eugene Edwards purchased his Pollmann, and this instrument is set this up to mimic DEE\'s. It was cool talking to the owner-- he hasn\'t seen Mr. Edwards in a few years but I got a couple good reports.2. Victor guitars has restored 12-15 Pollmann banjos and its owner actually hand builds banjolas. Long way of saying this instrument has been well cared for and is in excellent shape.If you found this you know they rarely come around. Reserve covers my purchase price. I will try to answer question but have supplied as much as I know.

** A buyer asked a question that revealed a typo in my original description: my reserve is set at half of what I paid for the instrument. It should read \"reserve covers HALF my purchase price,\" not the entirety of what I paid for it. Hope that helps.
