You are looking at a true classic. This is a 1960s Twilighter 280 Electric Guitar Amp. This was produced after Magnatone stopped producing this style amp and others started producing the exact amp with other name brands. This is one of the rarer tube amps we have encountered in awhile as it is the 280 Stereo model. Many people feel this is one of the best units produced when Magnatone and others were producing their better units. They are known for the smooth vibrato and rich sound.This survivor came from the second owner. Please scroll down and enjoy the photos. It is a beauty!
Cosmetically, it is in good shape aside from marks and scuffs as shown. Sonically, there is a very slight hum but no sound. Given the caps are original, we would guess this amp is probably in need of some reconditioning and capacitor replacement. The speakers are Jensen Special Design from early 1965 (9th week) and may or may not be original. It should be considered a project amp.
Due to the age, it is being sold as-is as with all electronics of this vintage. We did not attempt to remove the dust or clean it as we felt we would leave it for the next owner. We have no way to test or guarantee the condition of the capacitors and other components. If you have not owned a vintage amp before, they can need repairs and are many times not as reliable as a brand new amp.
