Vintage Antique Red Star Model 303 Copper/Brass Polished Fire Extinguisher-EMPTY For Sale

For your consideration, this is a vintage, antique Red Star, Model 303, gravity fire extinguisher, manufactured by The General Detroit Corporation. This antique has been polished to a mirror finish and the red enamel paint on the brass embossed plates have been restored as well so this antique fire extinguisher looks as it did when it was first put into service as a fire fighting tool. This is a rare Red Star as it provides the city names of manufacture as Chicago, Detroit, and New York. Based on the Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., serial number on the brass plate at the top, this antique dates back to 1912, so this is over 100 years old and has been returned to its prior glory.
I have provided 12 pictures so that everyone can see the true condition of this piece of Americana and fire fighting history. Please look at all the photographs. As this beautiful antique is over 100 years old, it is not perfect or in mint condition, so please do not assume it has absolutely no blemishes at all. Anything intended to be used to fight fires and is over 100 years old, that is an unrealistic expectation and I am not making such a representation. The copper rivets of the extinguisher are in good shape but the back of the extinguisher has some dents and bends from normal wear and tear. This was a tool for fighting fires so there are going to be some imperfections but as the pictures show, the only slightly noticeable imperfections are along the backside and well out of view for anyone wanting this one as a center or show piece.
That being said, this extinguisher is in great shape. The bronze cap is not bent or damaged. The fire hose is in good shape with the brass connectors all shined to a mirror finish as well. The brass embossed plates are in great shape, shined to a mirror finish and the red enamel paint restored. Finally, the copper rivets along the back are shined to a mirror finish and are in good shape with no dents, bends or missing rivets. Overall, the copper body of the antique is in very good shape as well as the pictures show, especially for an extinguisher that is over 100 years with the exception of a few bends and dents along the backside seem of the extinguisher. The wrinkling is not very noticeable and I have polished all sections of the body of the extinguisher to a mirror finish.
Finally, this antique fire extinguisher is EMPTY. None of the original ingredients that would cause the extinguisher to be active are present within this item. It is EMPTY.
