Up for sale is a fun Emerson radio (model 411) made between 1936 and 1937. This is a 4 tube a.m. radio with two dials, one for on/off/volume and one for tuning. The following things were done to this radio:
• Tubes checked and replaced if found weak or bad
• All old capacitors replaced with modern day equivalents
• Original paper capacitor block saved and restuffed with new capacitors to preserve originality
• Controls cleaned
• Cabinet touched up around bottom on 2 sides and coated with clear lacquer
• Line antenna added for better reception
When purchased, the radio had some missing finish on the bottom of the front and on the left side which was touched up with matching stain and then the entire radio was coated with a clear lacquer to give it a beautiful original look. There is a missing name plate and some missing repwood on a few of the corners and some cracks on the left side (see pictures) but it was not filled in and fixed due to the extreme originality of the radio. The original grill cloth is present and very clean. The original resistance power cord is still present and in remarkably good useable condition. (Always be careful when using a vintage radio with a resistance cord). I bench tested the radio for about a half hour two days in a row and it played well, picking up 7 stations in my area. The resistance cord was warm to the touch but not hot. This is a very original radio that could easily be the focal point of a room and definitely a great conversation piece. It would make a wonderful addition to anyone\'s collection
