Engineering Cabinet.

This fabulous quality vintage "Emir" Engineers Tool Chest, of 7 drawers, comprising 5 short and 2 long with an opening lid is in"as found" condition and has not been repaired or restored by us.

The cabinetis made from solid oak and has taken on a super depth of colour and patina over the years. The back and top are stained plywood. The draws and top are finger jointed. The cabinet was never designed to be a "fine" piece of furniture, but waspractical and meant to be used. Hence, there are marks, scratches, stainsand scuffs tothe body and topof the cabinet, as you can see from the pictures.

All the drawers slide in and out fine,however, one or two are loose on their runners and drop slightly when the one below is removed; however all are sound with no splits and all of the original handles are present.The green Baize draw linings are in good order, if a little stained and marked. The lid opens well and the brace keeps it open.

The front fits correctly and the lock works fine with its key,it also slides in to the bottom as it should. The three catches work well and the leather handle is well attached and sturdy.

The "Emir, Made in London, England" name plaque is still both intact and present.

All in all, this cabinet is in good usable condition and it certainly has very many years of service left to give.

It measures 46 cm (18 inches) wide, 22 cm (8 3/4 inches) deep and stands 40 cm (15 3/4 inches) tall.
