\"The 1892 Instantograph Patent\"

Camera.

This lovely \"Lancaster 1892 Instantograph\" camera is in \"as found\" condition and has not been repaired or restored by us.

Made by the renowned optician and camera makers J Lancaster and Sons of Birmingham, UK, it is made of mahogany with brass fittings and its\' original lens.

The camera bears two name plates, one has \"The 1892 Instantograph, Patent.\" and the other has \"J. Lancaster & Son, Birmingham\". The lettering on these are still clear and legible.

The small metal plaque on the top is a little corroded, but has \"J.L.S Opticians, B\".

The camera does not have a lens or lens ring.

There are no major holes or splits to the tapered black leather bellows, that I can find, however, there are three small holes to one section of the leather and some creasing to other sections at the front.

The glass plate has no cracks or chips that I can see and it measures 4 1/4 inches by 3 1/4 inches, which I believe is 1/4 plate size.

The wooden body has gained a lovely depth of colour and patina over the years, it is free from any major splits and cracks, but does have one small surface crack on the the bottom of the folding base as well as the usual scuffs and scratches that you would associate with an item of this age.

All of the brass hinges, slides etc, appear to be present and are in working order. The camera extends well and folds away as it should, I have tried to show this in the photographs.
