Vintage Langevin EQ 255 A and B Passive Low & High Pass Filters:
$206.50

Here we have a set of vintage (circa 1960-something) Langevin passive low and high pass filters, models 255 A (high pass) and 255 B (low pass) with roll-off frequencies of 70, 100, 250, 500, 1kHz, 2kHz, 3kHz, 4kHz, 5kHz, 7.5kHz and 250, 500, 1kHz, 2kHz, 3kHz, 4kHz, 5kHz, 6kHz, 8kHz and 10kHz respectively. These EQs are fully passive and will need make-up gain after insertion. They are designed to work into 600 ohms as usual. Full documentation and specifications are easily obtainable online from a variety of sources. These units are quite useful for sound effects and a wide variety of uses in the recording chain. Now for the specifics on what you are getting. As you can see, they are mounted on an original face plate which was cut out of a larger console panel at some point. I got them from a retired broadcast engineer who said they needed work. You can see that there were some holes carefully drilled in the tubular aluminium cases of the EQ\'s, probably in an attempt to clean the contacts. When I attempted to measure their frequency responses using the ARTA measurement software, with their outputs loaded with 600 ohms, I did find that the contacts are indeed quite intermittent, and I obtained some very strange looking rolloff characteristics. You are buying these strictly AS-IS with the knowledge that you will most certainly have to cut open the casings to obtain access to the works and figure out what is going on!! Contact cleaning at a minimum will be necessary, and I just don\'t have the time to do this myself, so I will let it up to the new owner.Unfortunately, Langevin thought it was necessary to make these sealed units, so careful work with a cutoff wheel will probably be necessary to open up the cases. In working condition, these 255 EQ sets are quite sought-after, so if you are willing to do some work yourself, here is a chance to get a set for a bargain! What you see is what you get. Please feel free to ask any questions before offerding!Thank you for your interest!(Note I will be out of town until 8/19, so there may be a delay in answering questions etc. Local pickup is welcome with prior arrangements.)
