Offered is a large Northwest Coast Washington Quinault Indian Basket. It was clearly made for use, measuring 11\" across by 7\" tall.
The last picture shows an identified Quinault basket from the book, Woven History: Native American Baskets, ed. by Julie Daly, which has a very informative section on identifying California and Northwest Coast baskets. Nice but please see pictures and read description. This is an older basket that was used. It is solid with no breaks in the base but it does have a few breaks in rim and a bit of fraying to rim wraps. It also shows some fading. OurNative American and First Nation items have been collected from variousplaces--sales, estate sales, pow wows and craft stores from our travels. Many of our Quill Boxes come from Manitoulin Island, where we spend part of each summer. We hate to let some of these items go but with our children in college, it\'s time to liquidate some of the collection and share our items with others.
