Vintage Set of 8 Brass Egg Weights to Verify or Balance EGG GRADING SCALES For Sale

These 8 egg shaped and egg sized weights have a 2 piece brass outside. They are firm to touch, but I have not tried to open one and I do not know what is inside. The weights are about 2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches in diameter. There are shallow dents and a wonderful well used look to these 8 pieces. Each weight has a number stamped into an end. Some are difficult to read, but here is what I get (Ounces per dozen I assume): 17, 18 1/2, 21 1/2, 22, 23 1/2, 24, 28 (I think it should be 26) and 28 1/2).

The box for these weights is hardwood, I guess Oak, and has dovetailed corners. At one time it looks to have had a sliding cover. The box is 4 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. There is an 8 hole bottom liner that sits about 1/2 inch above the bottom to nicely hold the weights in place.

Before I finished this I just picked up a weight and gave it a turn and it does unscrew. I did it to another but I did not go far enough with either to look inside. That will be for the buyer to discover. There is NOT a rattle to any weight.
