This mahogany and brass half-plate triple extention \"The National\" camera is in \"as found\" condition and has not been restored or repaired.There are no holes or splits to the tapered black leather bellows that I can find, however, there is some loss of colour mainly to the folds and cornersThe glass plate has no cracks or chips that I can find and it measures 6 1/2 inches by 4 3/4 inches, this is, I believe 1/2 plate size.All of the brass works appears to be present and in working order, it has retained much of its\' orignal lacquered finish.The camera is fitted with a \"Thornton-Pickard, Time & Inst\" shutter, which appears to be in working order and a waterhouse stop lens, this is marked \"Perken, Son & Rayment, Hatton Garden,London, Rapid Rectilinear, 7 x 5, Optimus\" and the retailers detailers \"Archer & Sons, 43 Lord St. Liverpool\"The camera still extends and folds way fine and I can\'t find any major splits or cracks to the wooden body, however, there are the usual scuffs and scratches that you would expect from a used item of this age. The mahogany has gained a lovely depth of colour and patina over the years. I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.The camera has a small name plate, \"The National Camera\" to the front, although this is tarnished. This mahogany and brass half-plate triple extention \"The National\" camera is in \"as found\" condition and has not been restored or repaired.

I believe that this camera was made by \"William Butcher & Sons\". The British camera maker, formed by William Butcher in Blackheath London in 1887. Following the outbreak of WW1 they joined forces with \"Houghton\" (very nearby in High Holborn) in 1915 to form the \"Houghton-Butcher Manufacturing Co. Ltd\". The two companies continued to sell their own brands until their full merging on 1 January 1926, this company became Ensign Ltd. in 1930.
