Up for sale is this AWESOMEvintage (circa 1938)Zenith 5-S-220 \"Cube\"broadcast & shortwave tube radio/receiver. This radio is listed in Wikipedia as one of the most popular radios from Zenith.
The 1937 Zenith Model 5S-220 also known as the \"Cube\" was built the same year Amelia Earhart and co-pilot Fred Noonan vanished over the Pacific Ocean on their Round-the-World Flight.
This 5 tube radio has 2 bands, BC (Broadcast AM) and SW (Shortwave).The knob lineup is as follows: Left knob ON/OFF Volume, Center knob Tuning and right knob Bass/Treble/Shortwave
The wood cabinet looks great some wear to the top little separation but no loss. Original finish.
The AC power cord has either been tarnisheddue to it\'s age but I was able to power on/test this radio.
Back speaker plug is missing but i was able to find the schematics and plug it in.
I was able to get some stations with a lots of hum noise due to bad capacitors.
This radio will need to be restored electronically.
Theblackdial paper is in immaculate condition. Original perfect condition knobs. Turn smooth.
The radio measures approximately9 1/2\" by10\" by10 7/8\".
