You are offerding on an OriginalAustrian Empire Order of the Iron Crown Knight Class (3cl). The order is used and is in good condition withlimited signs of wear and no significant enamel damage. The order has a niceeven patina / toning throughout due to age. The ribbon is clean and is in thetypical Austrian tri-fold style. There areno visible maker’s or silver marks. TheOrder of the Iron Crown was instituted on 5 June 1805 by Napoleon Bonaparte,following his coronation as the King of Italy.With the collapse of Napoleon’s empire, Imperial Austria regained itstraditional control over Lombardy, and on 7 April 1815 Emperor Franz I replacedthe Iron Crown with a civil and military order of merit but retained itsoriginal name. The order was awarded in 3 classes for distinguished military serviceduring both peacetime and wartime conditions as well as for distinguished civilservice. With the collapse of theAustro-Hungarian Empire in after WWII the Order Iron Crown was formallyabolished.
