Model: This is an M1905 bayonet, sometimes called the \"M1942\", the bayonets were made during World War II to fit both the M1 Garand and Springfield 1903 rifle.
Markings:The left ricasso is marked \"U.F.H. / U/S / 1942\" and flaming bomb. The front of the scabbard throat is marked \"USN / MK I\", the underside is marked \"B 3/1 N\".
Description: This bayonet has a 15 7/8\" blade, the metal has a Parkerized finish, the OAL is 20 1/2\". The surfaces appear to have their original war time Parkerized finish, the grips are correct serrated dark rubber plastic, the lug mechanism works well. There is no play in the construction. The scabbard is correctly marked for WWII production.
Overall Condition:The metal has some polishing blemishes under the finish, the surfaces have rub wear to bare metal from insertion and removal from the scabbard, the cutting edge does not look to be resharpened outside of the factory. The grip panels have scrapes and gouges but no cracks or major damages. The scabbard metal has modest patina, the body hasthe surfaces have some compression marks and light scuffs. Please see our pictures for a better understanding of condition.
