WWII US Collins # 18 USMC Bowie Fighting Knife Bowie Army Survival Horn Early For Sale

This is a pre-WWII US Army survival knife. They were packed in survival kits aboard Army aircraft but were popularly "repurposed" as fighting knives. They were also made famous by the USMC 2nd Raider Bn. This is an early one, maybe late 1800s w/the Collins sword type marking. Knife shows wear/use, well worn, the green horn grip type. Length is just over 14" w/a 9 1/2" blade. Sharpened w/a few very minor nicks, spine is dinged up a bit. Finish is very good w/lots of the original bright finish remaining. Brass guard is tight, green horn grips are in very good shape w/5 brass pins. Comes in well worn, (about relic condition) original, Collins #13 marked leather sheath.
