This is the real deal. Not a Champion 98 race car but an actual Agajanian # 98 racer made by Yonezawa of Japan in the 1950s. Due to a licensing disagreement between Yone and AC Agajanian who owned the real car very few toy versions were finished as the Aggie car with Troy Ruttman\'s name under the cowl. The names were quickly changed to Champion and Indianapolis Style instead of Agajanian and Troy Ruttman. The Champion cars are definitely nice but certainly not as collectible as the real thing. The impressively large 18\" long piece shown here is an exact model of the one raced by Troy Ruttman to win the 1952 Indianapolis 500 Speedway race. This was the last champ dirt track style sprint car to win at the Brickyard. If you have never seen one these behemoth toy cars, you will be astonished how big they really are. The true to life scale and realistic detail is just incredible. Notice the front nerf bar with large A which stands for Agajanian. This was a popular trend in the 1950\'s for owners of hot rods and sprint racers to personalize their cars. The outstanding toy shown here is largely original with some paint touch up in spots and a few replacement parts. It would have been so easy to completely restore this car but as with full size cars they often get \"over restored\" looking almost too good. Besides, you can restore a car or toy ten times but it is only original once. This stunning example is very clean and displays beautifully. Top of the body amazingly has no dents or dings. Base has a couple shallow dings. Paint still shines having a nice luster with scalloped flames and graphics still bright. Finish shows some age wear as does Troy but the patina really is magnificent looking every bit like an old race car just uncovered from a barn find. Driver\'s helmet has been repainted and weathered just right to match the rest of the car. Windshield has been expertly replaced. Exhaust has been re-plated and a couple of the knock off spinners are perfect match replacements. Buttons on bottom have been replaced as well. Tires are all original, still soft and supple. No cracks or flat spots but both rear tires do have a mark in the tread from storage. I have supplied close up pics for your perusal. Friction motor still runs smooth, strong and long. These super rare cars very seldom come up for sale. Now is the chance to own this magnificent investment grade piece. Delivery confirmation is included on every domestic shipment to insure the package arrives at it\'s destination. For international shipments both priority and first class postage are available. Insurance is required for some countries so please inquire before offerding. A slight handling charge is built in to cover shipping room costs and help. I do not skimp on packing. I am a collector as well as a dealer, and many times have been chagrined to open a box and find a rare vintage toy broken en route. Not due to postal misuse, but by poor and insensitive wrapping. You will not receive toys packed like this from me. All my items are thoughtfully and carefully packed as though I would be mailing them to myself. Prices are set by size and weight. USPS Priority Mail dimensional weight rates will now apply for certain large packages shipped to select zones within the U.S. Priority Mail can be very expensive with an oversize package, as many of my toys require, therefore for those larger items I use Parcel Post which is just as safe and almost as fast.
