One of our esteemed <strong>ACEFEST <\/strong>Judges, <a title=\"ACEFEST Judging Panel\" href=\"\/submit\/judges.php\"><strong>Brant Sersen<\/strong><\/a>, wrote and directed a star-studded film entitled &#8216;<a title=\"Splinterheads Movie\" href=\"http:\/\/splinterheadsthemovie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Splinterheads<\/strong><\/a>&#8216; this past year. For their theatrical premiere in New York City, the &#8216;Splinterheads&#8217; took over Union Square for the entire day on Friday, November 6th. They made it nearly impossible to live in Manhattan and <em>not <\/em>know about the film by the end of the day. Using elements of the film, they created a themed wonderland for passerby&#8217;s to enjoy and participate including amusement games, entertainment and free clown noses &#8211; all capped off by screenings at one of NYC&#8217;s largest theaters.<\/p>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/nfAt0DWbn5M&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/nfAt0DWbn5M&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Aside from the on-site promotion this team has done, they have also been experimenting with <strong>plot-based viral marketing<\/strong>. This is a brilliant way to gain extra attention for your film. The goal is to create a fan base for a particular character in the movie. In the case of &#8216;Splinterheads&#8217; it was The Amazing Steve, a hilariously self-absorbed magician who has used <strong><a title=\"The Amazing Steve on YouTube\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=swwx6IQcQlk\" target=\"_blank\">YouTube<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong><a title=\"The Amazing Steve on Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/#!\/pages\/Help-The-Amazing-Steve-Destroy-Chris-Angel\/358485047074?ref=ts\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook<\/a> <\/strong>to challenge Criss Angel to a battle of skill and illusion.<\/p>\n<p>This is a perfect example of getting creative to get the word out.
