This 1972 set of large ceramic matador and fighting bull statues are in remarkably great condition!
The Matador stands 11 in tall. The bull is just under 9 in tall and 12 in long. The set together weighs just over 3 lb and will be extremely well packed to preserve the integrity of these beautiful items.
The base of each one has the initials AR and the number 72. There is a crack in the base of the Matador, but it seems to be part of the manufacturing and drying process.
I'm not certain, but I believe these to be handmade, probably a slip cast, possibly in a ceramics or pottery class in 1972.
These are of the exact style of the MCM branded Matador and fighting bull of the same generation, but, it does not have that brand. The date on the bottom. Even the swirls underneath the bull lack a brand marking as I have seen in other ones.
The black of the Matador and the bull are impressive, unscratched and unscuffed. The red of the Matador cape is also in impeccable condition!
If your vibe is 1970s lounge, you simply cannot miss out on this beautiful set! Large and detailed, beautifully relieve feel, and quintessential '70s!
