This is a VERY RARE archive of items concerning one individual, OSWALD WALLACE,who was born 17th November 1879 in Edinburgh, Scotland.On the 19th June 1899 he was enlisted from the 3rd battalion The Royal Scots to serve in the Militia of the County of Midlothian. His total service was 3 years 13 days including 2 years 68 days service abroad in South Africa in the Second Boer War. He received the South African Campaign medal and 3 clasps and was discharged on the 1st July 1902.The next we hear of this gentleman is on the 21-8-1914 when he enlisted in the Australian Armed Forces Australian Imperial Force 1st Field Artillery Brigade and embarked from Brisbane on theHMAT Rangatira A22on the 25-9-1914He served with this unit in Egypt and the Western Front returning to Australia 2-12-1918 and was discharged on 3-2-1919.He Married Margaret Allen at Petersham in 1925We were unable to find any further record of him or his Family so it may be assumed he returned to Scotland sometime later.
