A 7 5/8 inch tall amber-colored cylinder-shaped antique patent \'quack\' bottle that originally contained a HEROIN based medicine. These are rare bottles to find and this one with its original paper label is POSSIBLY a UNIQUE one-of-a-kind bottle with the original paper label. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUEBlown Glass bottle with a cork top, dating back to early 1900.

• Bottle embossed on shoulder: \"Glyco - Heroin / \'SMITH\'\".

• Base of bottle embossed: \"MARTIN H. SMITH CO. / CHEMISTS / NEW YORK\".

• Condition: Bottle is in SPARKLING CLEAN condition. It has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. SEE PICTURES for overall idea of label\'s condition.

• Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE blown-glass bottle (ABM) with a cork-top, ca. early1900\'s.

Heroin was used over a century ago as an ingredient in cough syrup, to suppress the cough and suppressing the discomfort that is associated with it. Yet it did much more than that as patients came to find out that they kept using the syrup long after the cough was gone. Heroin is one of the most addictive substances known to mankind. This is one of the very few antique bottles that actually has the word \" HEROIN \" embossed in the glass which makes it quite appealing.
