1960S IMHOF SWISS GILDED BRASS SHELF CLOCK SOLD BY BUCHERER
ENGRAVED C-SCROLL FRETWORK DOORS - OVERSIZE LINEN TEXTURE GILT DIALThis handsome timepiece is from my personal collection of clocks.Commencing with apprenticeship to a European master clock and watchmaker through high school graduation, freshmen year of college and remainder of the 1970s, I sensitively restored clocks of all types; opening service and sales showrooms in the western suburbs of Chicago. After a 35 year \"sabbatical\" pursuing an appraisal career, I\'ve returned to the venerable trade.
Imhof along with Swiss competitors Luxor, Looping and Angelus manufactured the best post WWII jeweled lever alarm, desk and shelf clocks. This is a premier example.Square case on bold turned feet machined of solid brass with satin brushed and polished 24K gold finish. Elaborate foliated S-scroll cast bail. Pierced and engraved C-scroll doors with ball pulls open to a fine linen texture dial behind plate glass. Applied black enamel finished numbers and gilt bar hour markers. Enameled stick hands are easily read at a distance. High-grade oversize 8-day movement with 15-jewel lever escapement. The clock presents attractively and is in fine operating order.6.5\" high to top of raised handle, 4.75\" wide (closed doors), 2.0\" deep
an impressive 2.9 lbs.NOTE: This year the movement was completely disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned and rinsed in waterless solutions, checked for wear, reassembled and lubricated with high-grade Swiss oils. Mainspring was removed from the barrel, cleaned and lubricated with grease. Hands, dial, crystal and the case were cleaned. Meticulous restoration should provide reliable operation for years. Labor cost for professional overhaul of comparable time-only Swiss clocks averages $350.Please review descriptive information and study the photographs for details. I\'m available to answer any and all questions / concerns.
Thanks!
