R2 Standardfeatures 2x asymmetric angled universal clamps that can be turned inward (forsmall knives) or outward (for long knives).

Clamps utilize flexible flat springand spacer screws to secure knives of any shape including a full flat grind.

·WHY NEW HAPSTONE SHARPENERS DON'T SUPPORT 8"SHARPENING STONES?

Haptonehas 8" stones support since the first version of Hapstone PRO. The beststone form-factor today is 6" Edge Pro. All new knife sharpeners mustsupport it. 8" stones support is declared useless and economicallyunreasonable.

·I WANT TO USE MY 8" BENCH STONES. I WILL BUY ASHARPENER WITH 8" STONE SUPPORT.

Youwill not use 8" bench stones even if your sharpener supports 8"stones. Bench stones are too heavy and obstruct visibility.

·HAPSTONE R2 ISSMALLER THAN HAPSTONE R1. DOES IT MEAN R1 IS BETTER?

HapstoneR2 becomes smaller for one reason - 8" stonesupport has beeneliminated. The main stone form factor is 6" Edge Pro. Hapstone R2 becomes2" smaller and lighter.

·HAPSTONE R2 IS MUCHCHEAPER THAN HAPSTONE R1. DOES IT MEAN R1 IS BETTER?

Hapstone R2 is available in 4different kits in different price ranges. Hapstone R2 Classic is the successorof Hapstone R1: triple clamp configuration, fine-tuning adapter, andspring-assisted stoppers. Hapstone R2 Classic is cheaper than Hapstone R1, butthe price difference is not big. At the same time, Hapstone R2 has a betterstone holder and better clamps.

·HOW TO USE NEW CLAMPSON HAPSTONE R1? CAN I UPGRADE R1 TO R2?

All new clamps and the newrotating clamp module are incompatible with Hapstone R1. The adapter is indevelopment. Hapstone R1 owners will get it for free with the purchase of a newrotating clamp module.
