Title:Incredible 1860's - 1901 Patriotic French Republic Pre World War 1 One of a Kind Flag
Description:This truly impressive one of a kind flag embodies the turn of the century symbolic French Republic patriotism in all its glory. This extreemly large piece has VIVE LA REPUBLIQUE written atop with the breathtaking painting of Marianne, the goddess of liberty. She is seen painted in wonderful details standing full length in the center in full length regalia with sword, wreath and scales of justice at her side. At each red and blue panel are painted laurel wreaths. Obverse of the flag depicts a magnificent cuirassier breastplate and helmet centered with a pair of artillery cannons beneath. The magnificent painting is surrounded by a set of wreaths and a lovely pair of painted laurel wreaths centered at each blue and red panel. Being constructed of two cotton pieces, the white panel allows the artist to meticulously paint each side without concern. Each panel has been been handsewn together further exemplifying the quality craftsmanship of this beautiful piece. Additionally, the gold bullion fringe affixed to the top and bottom of the flag further highlight the magnificence of this one of a kind piece.
Condition:Various signs of repairs, damage, stains, fading etc. Rips and separationin a section on Mariannas face and repair as seen in photos.
