Fully Edible and Reusable WWII Reproduction Late War C Ration – FULL DAY SET
Welcome to Hero Rations! – Your source for authentic and museum accurate reproduction of WW2 army rations. Give yourself the chance to experience exactly what soldiers were issued and ate during WW2. Perfect for that person interested in history, military history, WW2, educator, reenactor or collector!
Since 2020, our small business has strived to create the very best WW2 rations out there! As a former reenactor and current militaria collect and WW2 historian, I was always disappointed at the market for edible, well-executed WW2 rations. I didn't want folks having to use tuna fish cans, inkjet printed PDFs and club crackers anymore. I wanted to make the best of the best for anyone interested in history. If you are a historian, WW2 reenactor, educator, or just plain curious to experience what soldiers ate, check out our products!
For 2024, Hero Rations is very excited to offer an updated and upgraded versions of the infamous WW2 C Rations. These canned rations were issued to soldiers during WW2 and with a number of changes to design, served soldiers all the way to the development of the MRE in 1980. We have updated the WW2 C Ration to be as historically accurate as originals from both early and late WW2 (check out our other listings for the Early War C Ration Set). Unlike our competitors, our C ration cans are reusable AND the contents are exacting copies of original components – we use original 1940s Department of Defense specifications for the labeling, packaging and even the ingredients used!
During WW2 the design and contents of the C ration changed numerous times. To reflect those changes we are offering both an early war and late war set. THIS IS A FULL DAY THREE MEAL SET, meaning for you are getting six cans, 3 B units each filled with the period appropriate reproduced contents, 3 M reusable M units cans and the full accessory pack. These six cans and accessory pack were designed to sustain a soldier for all three meals. This set would be appropriate for impressions from the 2nd half of 1944 through the end of the war.
CHECKOUT THE LAYOUT VIDEO HERE: War C Ration Kit –
As the war progressed, the C Ration became more complex, as variety was increased and design changed. The most noticeable physical designs were that the cans were now OD green with date stamping on the top. We use correct WW2 Jeep OD paint and lacquer finish the cans for a period-correct and durable finish. You’ll notice the stamping on the top of each can vs the sides and each can is marked by the meal choice “Breakfast”, “Dinner” and “Supper. BEST OF ALL: Our cans are the correct sized cans - 3.5"x3" with reusable design vs one time use. Cans are correctly OD painted with period stamping on the tops. No decals or stickers here. And we add a reverse die punched WWII period month and year date code in the lid as well!
With the Late War C Ration Kit, you get all three more varied C ration meal choices PLUS the C Ration accessory kit.
Opening up late war B units and you’ll find a set of C ration biscuits made exactly to WW2 Department of Defense specifications. I am the only C or K ration producer that is making the correct biscuits for these rations. These biscuits aren’t crackers, or hardtack. They are very complex energy biscuit with an old-fashion taste. You’ll also find the paper or glassine separation disc that separated the biscuits from the other B unit can contents. There are three different variations of the B unit based on period contents included with the kit. Breakfast contains four biscuits, compressed cereal disc, correct sugar cubes, coffee and candy coated peanuts. Dinner contains four biscuits, sugar cookie, lemon juice powder sachet, 4-5 rod or charms candies and box of granulated sugar. Supper contains four biscuits, a container of Jam or Jelly (We use a blackberry jam spread), cocoa beverage powder and 3-4 fudge candies or fudge square. During WWII, an accessory packet was added to crates of C rations to be included with three meals. The foiled lined accessory packet contained salt tablets, gum, a 9 pack of cigarettes, a shortened matchbook with malaria warnings and Waldorf toilet paper in a foil lined paper envelope. I offer the accessory packet as well under available options for this listing. No tobacco products are included. To make reuse easier, I designed one end of the paper envelope to be resealable.
Notes:
See above for included contents. No tobacco or tobacco related products are included. These are WW2 designed packaging for the US armed forces, so at times the biscuits can crack during shipping. I do my best to pack them well with the candies on the sides to minimize movement so I do apologize if they crack.
