Rare Vintage Margot de Taxco design made by F. Ramirez .925 Sterling Silver Serving Piece Cake/Pie/Pastry Server
This is an extraordinary find, as many \"Blossom\" pieces are stamped by F.Ramirez in the open and closed \"Blossom\" design, but they don\'t have the Margot de Taxco Makers Mark. This is an amazing collectible!

RamirezEagle Reads 116 - Indicating City Mark: (1) Made in Mexico City & Makers Mark: (16) Margot De TaxcoApproximate measurements of this artful piece are:4 5/8\" at the widest part of the base and 3 3/4\" tallMargot van Voorhies moved from the US to Mexico in 1937. She eventually found her way to Taxco, at the time a center for artists and bon vivants. It was in Taxco, that she met and married Antonio Castillo. In 1939, Antonio established his own workshop, “Los Castillo” with Margot as principal designer, along with Jorge “Chato” Castillo and Salvador Teran.
Antonio and Margot were married for 10 years. When they divorced, Margot became Margot de Taxco. She opened her own workshop in 1948. Her work remains unique – influenced by her interest in Art-Deco, Mayan and Japanese motifs. She insisted on meticulous production techniques.
After much success in the 50s and into the 60s, a catastrophic fire at her atelier, she went bankrupt. The government stepped in and sold her business to pay her workers. She ended up giving the “dyes” of her designs to her silversmiths as payment.
She died in 1974. And use of the eagle mark was replaced in 1979 by a numeric system. More info on that may be found here: a general rule, no refunds or returns without cause.
