Stunning HEAVY GAUGE Late 19th Century Brass/Silver Hand Forged Italian Crucifix:
$245.00

The Piece Itself:

Envision yourself in possession of an esteemed relic from the late 19th century - a crucifix of notable antiquity and exceptional craftsmanship. This exemplary piece of religious artistry holds substantial weight, crafted from solid brass and coated with a luxuriant layer of sterling silver that emanates a captivating gleam, inviting a closer examination of its intricate composition.

Of striking distinction is the genuine ebony wood elegantly juxtaposed within the metal framework, creating a visually arresting juxtaposition of textures and hues. As one runs a reverent hand over its surface, the subtle patina of age reveals itself, with areas of worn silver exposing warm tones of underlying brass. These subtle indications of natural aging lend a unique character to the crucifix, imparting a dignified aura of temporal significance.

The elaborate corpus of Christ depicted upon the crucifix is a tour de force of artistry, each delicate feature painstakingly rendered with precision and artful finesse. Below the feet of the sacred figure, a somber symbol of mortality - skull and crossbones - is deftly carved, evoking a profound sense of contemplative gravity and reverence.

Weighing a considerable 35 grams, this exemplar of divine iconography hails from the esteemed workshops of Italy, renowned for their unparalleled dedication to superior craftsmanship and unwavering attention to detail. A piece resplendent in both symbolic and aesthetic value, this crucifix transcends mere religious artifact to embody a cherished cultural treasure, a testament to the enduring power of faith and artistic expression.

In résumé, this crucifix distinguishes itself not merely as a religious emblem but as a masterwork of enduring beauty and historical significance, a pilgrimage-worthy artifact that serves as a tangible connection to the past and a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.

This is indeed a “wearable” crucifix, with the top of the crucifix “holed” to allow a chain to pass through. The chain, however, need be thinner - as the hole measures about 2mm. I wore this piece for many years, and never did I encounter an issue with a thinner chain carrying a 35 gram pendant.
