Brigadier General Harold Robert Lee, USMC (RET), a distinguished Marine aviator, died in Columbus, Ohio, on 19 May at the age of 83. He was born in New England, Ohio, in 1903 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1925. Commissioned in 1928, three years later he received his wings as a naval aviator in 1931 and began a succession of tours assigned to air units. During the Okinawa operation, he served as Ill Amphibious Corps air officer. Gen Lee retired in June 1954, promoted to brigadier general for having been decorated in combat. He was buried in Delaware, Ohio, on 22 May. General Lee has the distinction of being the highest ranked USMC Naval Aviator in the state of Ohio, which is where these items originated (Columbus area estate sale to be exact).
