Made in Germany. About The Horolovar Flying Pendulum Clock, and \"Ignatz\" \"The Craziest Clock In The World\".
The original Ignatz Flying Pendulum Clock was invented by Alder Christian Clausen of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was patented in 1883, and manufactured by the New Haven Clock Company under the name of Jerome & Co. in 1884-1885. Charles Terwilliger commissioned the German manufacture of this reproduction novelty clock in 1959, which continued until 1979. Beautiful and fascinating to watch run, the clocks have remained popular, and today are highly collectable. These clocks are not good timekeepers, though, capable of an accuracy no better than plus or minus 5 to 10 minutes per day.
Clock face feature Roman numerals, metal hands and is underneath glass. The wood case features gold toned floral designs to each corner and on the side of the case. Clock supported by gold toned metal paws. On top there is a ball and cord which make up the flying pendulum escapement.
