Antique Columbia Gramophone with crank Great Britain phonograph turntable Collectible Working record player
Columbia \"Viva-Tonal model 109A Grafonola\" from the late 1920\'s or early 1930\'s. Columbia gramophones are one of the most respected of all the portable gramophones because of their build quality and superior sound reproduction. This machine is fitted with its original Columbia number 9 soundbox, which has excellent tonal qualities. Another distinctive feature is the strangely angled tone arm. This was known as the \"Plano-Reflecto\" system, and was so designed to optimise sound reproduction, a job it does very well! A 78rpm record can be played with a single wind of the spring, which seems to be in good health.
