The original sticker on the abdomen is still intact and reads Äkta Dalahemslöjd Tillv. G. A.Olsson Nusnäs, Mora, Sweden. This company was founded in 1922 and is the oldestcompany which still makes Dalecarlian horses. This Dala horse is beautifully hand-carved and hand-painted with thetraditional patterns of flowers and flourishes. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks in the wood.
This vintage red Dala horse was designed by Grannas Olsson, who was the original designer. It was hand-carved from pine wood and hand painted with Sweden'straditional patterns of flowers and folklore. No two Dala horses are the same.Dala horses have been carved by the Olsson family company in Nusnäs for over 100 yearswith Grannas Olsson being the original designer and Nils Olsson, his brother,bringing Dala horses to a wider market, such as the New York World's fair in 1939.
