Complete matching set of 12 fine-linen dinner napkins, each measuring approximately 19.5 inches × 19 inches. Features elaborate Madeira embroidery, cutwork, needle-lace openwork, padded whitework and hand-worked hemstitched borders.Likely European, circa 1920s–1930s; maker and country of origin are unknown. Sourced from a long-held New England estate in a historic circa-1850 home and discovered together in a dining-room sideboard.Condition
All 12 have varying degrees of storage oxidation, yellowing and discoloration. For comparison, the final photograph shows the best and worst examples together. The most heavily affected napkin was lying on top of the stack when the set was found; the remaining napkins are in better condition but all show some oxidation. No cleaning or stain treatment has been attempted. Offered untreated and as found.
