My dear mother was a member of the DEFENDERS OF THE HOLYNAME OF GOD. She lived with cancer for 15 years and died at age 97 peacefullyin her sleep; not of cancer, but of natural causes. During that 15-year periodBertha started collecting these unique crosses from collectors all over theworld. Here on auction is one of those rare bronze CONFRATERNITY OF THEDEFENDERS OF THE HOLY NAME OF GOD crosses from her collection. Their sale willhelp two Carmelite Communities in South America that feed the poor.

This cross is 3 inches by 2 inches in size and it weighs 20 grams. It isoriginally from her collection.

HISTORY: Devotion and reparation to the Holy Face ofJesus was first begun by a Carmelite Nun named Sister Mary of St. Peter inFrance, 1844, who stated Our Lord revealed this devotion to her at MountCarmel. Sister Mary of St. Peter stated that Our Lord wanted this devotion tobe spread throughout the world with the goal of making reparation for the sinswhich offend God. When a man named Leo DuPont took this devotion and startedpracticing it privately in his home near the Carmelite Convent, repeated firstclass miracles started occurring, which lasted for a period of over 30 years!This immediately became the talk of France, and attracted the attention of theCatholic Church, who investigated and publicly recognized the miracles asauthentic. These miracles attest to the authenticity of the revelations fromOur Lord to Sister Mary of St. Peter. In 1885, to bring attention to theimportance of this devotion, Pope Leo XIII established this special devotion asan Archconfraternity; and contrary to custom, He immediately established it forthe ENTIRE WORLD.
