Beautiful antique/vintage ecclesiastical brass staff featuring an ornate openwork scrollwork design and traditional curved pastoral-style top.
Measures approximately 36" long with the decorative top measuring approximately 4" across.
Acquired from an old church. The long metal shaft terminates in a hollow/fluted open end, suggesting this may originally have been one section of a larger multi-piece processional or pastoral staff. The ornate upper section features elaborate scrolling and foliate decoration with a spherical accent.
Believed to be associated with a church pastoral/processional staff or crozier, although the exact maker, denomination, age and original configuration are currently unknown.
Displays an attractive aged brass/gold-tone surface with patina, oxidation, spotting, scratches and general wear consistent with age and church use. Appears to be an incomplete staff/component; no additional sections are included.
A beautiful piece of antique ecclesiastical hardware and an unusual collectible for a collection of church antiques, religious artifacts, liturgical objects or architectural salvage.
